On May 25, 1896 Katie Currie Muse organized the Texas Division in Victoria, Texas. The group worked to preserve the memory of those that had served in the Confederate armies and in commemorating historic locations, helped to fund the Confederate Home for Men, and the Confederate Women's Home, solicited financial donations for Southern history studies, and provided academic scholarships. Born in Bucklin, Minnesota, Grover Cleveland Ramsey (1892-1974) was the son of George Washington Ramsey (b. 1864) and Olive May Sights (b. 1870). Retiring from his position as a public school principal in Chicago, Illinois, Ramsey moved to Texas in 1958. Ramsey commenced researching and writing about Texas history, especially on the subjects of ghost towns, Texas Confederate post offices, and the settlement of Texas during the 19th century.
